Transliterated sock in action

Remember that sock pattern? Here is the first 8 inches. The cuff is pretty neat-it has you cast on one extra stitch for every four and the you immediately decrease them on the first row of of the run pattern. This is so that the cast on edge is not too tight. Mom taught me to cast on over two needles - I can't tell the difference.
And a gratuitous picture of my new knitting partner. She is pretty cooperative when dealing with the yarn-she really likes dpns. The pic is of the patient kitty waiting on the back of the recliner to be invited back to a yarn free lap.
And: an update of the knitting students-one who has come to learn may be ready to pick up this sock and continue.
